Greeting Cards
Flat Folded Cards
These are hand-made note cards, acknowledging holidays, birthdays, special occasions or ordinary events. I drew the figures on the Kwanzaa greeting card and collaged them onto colored paper. The components of the Christmas tree card (see the origami tutorial) are folded and mounted on a bright background. The spring time flower card incorporates stamping, drawing and collage. The spring flower card is simple to make, but is nevertheless intricate enough to be attractive and interesting.
Pop-ups, Cut-outs and Other Dimensional Cards
Cut out and pop-up cards have dimensional elements to them. When they’re opened, something happens: a figure jumps up or parts of the card recede from view, while other parts move forward. They’re captivating and delightful, but not all that complicated to make. I’ve included two cut out cards (front and back views): one filled and the other blank.
The blank one is for correspondence; it is meant to be written in.
The filled cut-out card functions more as a book; it is meant to display the creator’s artwork. This particular card is filled with images of and tributes to my two dogs: Jigi and Zuzu
Treasure Box Cards
These cards have windows though which the recipient views small meaningful objects: charms, beads, stamps, shells, photos. They’re a perfect way for travelers to commemorate their journeys.
